Richard Arvil Hendrix

Richard Arvil Hendrix, Jr, age 64 of Morganton Hwy, Suches passed away at home on Thursday, August 17, 2023 following a brave battle with cancer. Richard was born January 16, 1959 in Gastonia, NC where he grew up and graduated from Ashbrook High School, Class of '77.

 He worked in manufacturing at Freightliner Trucks before moving to Atlanta. There he worked at quality control in commercial construction with Law Engineering. Weary of city life and ready for something new he moved to Suches in 1993 and started his own business in Home Services, building a family of friends with his clients. Richard was preceded in death by his father, Richard Arvil Hendrix, Sr. and his mother, Betty Lou Hendrix, of Gastonia, NC. He is survived by his husband and loving partner of 31 years, D. Lynn Davis, his sister Tammy Lynn Hendrix of Gastonia, and a loving and supportive family of friends. 

Richard was a talented artist and craftsman. He enjoyed cooking, baking, hiking, boating, UGA football and music of almost every genre.

He was a devoted animal lover and enjoyed pampering and spoiling his family and friends. A memorial service will be held at Dahlonega Funeral Home on Saturday, September 9th  at 11:00am.  All family and friends are welcome.
