John-Richard Robbins, loving father, brother and companion passed away on May 3, 2021, at the age of 71. Richard was born in Belle Glade, FL on November 12, 1949, to John and Anne Robbins. As the son of an Air Force officer, Richard was well-traveled, living in many places – Dayton, Ohio; Reno, Nevada; Biloxi, Mississippi; Murfreesboro, Tennessee; and even Osaka, Japan.
Richard was preceded in death by his parents, John & Anne. He is survived by his daughter, Lauryann Robbins Harvey (John), his brother, Ken Robbins (Liz), and his sisters Cindy Thomas and Cherryl Robbins. Extended family includes his lifelong best friend and first cousin, Tony Preston, his companion, Mia Gordon, granddaughter, Kelsey Harvey (Sam), grandson, Colton Harvey, and great granddaughter, Margot June.
Richard’s life was defined by his kindness and his work ethic. Over the course of fifty-six years, Richard worked as a caddy at a golf course, ran a milk route, worked commercial construction, waited tables, bartended, was a masseur, supervised several Blockbuster Video stores, ran convenience stores and managed several Domino’s pizza franchises. For fifteen years he ran JR’s Pressure Washing until recently, he worked as a professional caretaker.
His industriousness carried over to woodworking. From an heirloom chessboard for his father to building his own home in the mountains, there was no carpentry endeavor Richard wouldn’t take on.
All who knew Richard benefitted from his kindness and willingness to help - whether it was for a quick loan, an offer for a ride, to jump start a car, or just words of advice about anything. Richard will be deeply missed by many.
