Dwain Ritchie Gilreath

Dwain Gilreath, age 77, of Dahlonega, Georgia passed away on June 25, 2023.

Born on January 21, 1946, to Jewell and Faye (Anderson) Gilreath in Lumpkin County, Dwain was a lifetime “Nugget” and an active member of Dahlonega United Methodist Church, a two tour Navy Vietnam Veteran with the Seabee Battalion, and a member of Blue Mountain Masonic Lodge #38. Mr. Gilreath completed a civilian career at Camp Frank D. Merrill and then later as an electrician for North Georgia College. After retiring cooking and fishing became hobbies of enjoyment but mostly his time was dedicated to his greatest loves; his relationships with family, friends, and the animals on his property. Dwain will be remembered fondly and missed by all who knew him.

Dwain’s commitment to those relationships would speak for itself as he is survived by his wife of 56 years, Linda Beth (Crosley) Gilreath; sons Ritchie Gilreath and wife Whitney, Adam Gilreath; grandchildren Christen, Ainslee, Maya, Cody, Colton, and Abel. In addition to his parents he is preceded in death by his siblings, Archie Gilreath and Linny Gilreath.

Family will receive friends on Wednesday, June 28th, 2023  from 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm at Dahlonega Funeral Home. A funeral service including military honors will be held on Thursday June 29th, 2023, in the chapel of Dahlonega Funeral Home at 4:00pm. Rev. Steve Schofield to officiate, and special music provided by Radford Windham.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to One Child El Salvador, Inc. Donations can be dropped off at Dahlonega United Methodist Church or mailed to P.O. Box 274, Dahlonega, GA 30533.
