Donald Franklin Gage

Donald “Don” Franklin Gage passed away on May 25th, 2022, at the age of 81, in Dahlonega, Georgia where he lived since 2005 after relocating from Orlando, Florida. He faced his battle with cancer with the same courage and good humor that he showed in his long and decorated military service. Don will be mourned by his devoted wife and partner of 33 years, Marianne, as well as his two sons, Jeff and Keith, his stepson David, and his many friends, relations, and grandchildren. 

Don was an avid fan of all sports, especially golf and bowling. He was a gentle and kind man who was devoted to all those he cared about. He retired from the United States Army after twenty years, having served two tours in Vietnam as a combat infantryman and in aviation, receiving twenty-seven medals, including ten air medals. He was active in the Vietnam Veterans of America and was a founding member of Chapter 970 where he served on the Board and as a treasurer for years. He was also a member and served on the Board of the Heyward Fields American Legion Post 239 and was a lifetime member of the VFW. After retirement from the Army, Don was Regional Vice President of Central Security Services in Orlando, Florida for twenty-nine years.

There will be no memorial service, however, all are welcome to attend the interment that will be held on July 13, 2022 at 3pm in Georgia National Cemetery, located at 1080 Scott Hudgens Drive, Canton, Georgia. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Northeast Georgia Hospice, 2150 Limestone Parkway, Suite 222, Gainesville, Georgia 30501.
