Craig James Cavitt, 55 years, passed away on May 12, 2023, at his home in Dahlonega, Georgia.
Craig was born on September 1, 1967, the youngest of five children of Janice Bombe and Clifford Cavitt. He is predeceased by his father. Craig left behind his wife of 33 years, Lisa, his favorite daughter, Catherine Hutwagner and husband Will Hutwagner, favorite son, Cameron, his mother Janice Bombe and stepfather Robert Bombe, and his siblings.
Craig proudly served in the United States Army for 23 years. His accomplishments are many, but he was most proud to be an Airborne Ranger and Jumpmaster. As a civilian, Craig worked at Robins Air Force Base in Warner Robins, Georgia, Fort Benning in Columbus, Georgia, and with the Veterans Administration in Member Services. He truly believed that it was an honor to serve his fellow veterans.
Craig earned his Bachelors from the University of Michigan and his Masters degrees from Central Michigan. Not to say that Craig truly enjoyed school, but he loved learning and sharing knowledge with others and cheering on the Wolverines.
Craig was born an adventurer. He loved having the wind and sunshine on his face. Craig enjoyed hiking and camping, skydiving, riding his motorcycle and dirt bikes, fishing, auto mechanics, off roading, and playing the guitar.
To know Craig is to have been at the mercy of a good story.
