Obituary

Charles “Chuck” Scott McCarl, age 85, of Dawsonville Georgia passed away on the morning of Wednesday December 22, 2021 peacefully at his home with sons Scott McCarl and John McCarl, as well as wife Marianne by his side.  Chuck is preceded in death by wife Jacquelyn McCarl and sister Jeri Vereshagin of Orland, California.  He survived by current wife Marianne McCarl, sons Scott McCarl (Heidi), John McCarl (Vicky) as well as his brother Jim McCarl of Minneapolis, Minnesota and sister Bonnie McCullough of Belfair, Washington.  Chuck had 4 wonderful grandchildren that he cherished deeply Chandler (22 years) Ryan (21 years) Colin (21 years) and Jacquelyn (8 years).

“Good Luck Chuck” was born in St Paul, Minnesota on November 5th 1936 to Scott and Wyla McCarl.  During his teenage years Chuck and his family were relocated to California.  Upon graduation from Palo Alto High School, Chuck joined The United States Army 7th Infantry Division and served several years in Korea (post conflict).  Chuck’s love of numbers lead him into the accounting profession and his fist job with Simmons Mattress Company.  As a young professional, Chuck fell in love and married Jacquelyn Jean Pratt of Menlo Park, California and the two were married in 1962.  Their two sons, Scott and John, were later born in 1967 and 1969 in the California Bay Area.  The family was relocated to Atlanta, Ga in 1975.  Chuck and family always had a caring, fun loving “home base” on Wright Rd for all friends and family.  His wife Jacquelyn suddenly passed in 1991, and Chuck later remarried in 1994 to Marianne Antoinesse.

Chuck finished his career as a financial controller with Caterpillar Dealer and Distributor –The Yancey Company of Georgia.  Upon retirement in 1999, Chuck and Marianne moved up to Dahlonega Georgia and loved their quiet and tranquil times nestled in the Blue Ridge Mountains with dogs Sam and Little Bit.  In 2018 the couple moved to The Gracemont Senior Independent Living community in Dawsonville GA.

Chuck was a quiet, kind man with a wonderful sense of humor.  He was a very caring and loving husband to both Jacquelyn and Marianne.  Chuck was also a dedicated and supportive father, raising his two sons with strong family values, including compassion, tolerance, and hard work.  He loved to play golf and was an avid fan of all Oakland and Atlanta sports teams, as well as the Georgia Bulldogs!  His love of the outdoors flourished in Dahlonega where he spent time walking along the Chestatee River with his dog Sam, gardening and landscaping around the House, and taking fun drives into town and other places with Marianne.  The couple had the chance to visit Holland where Marianne was born as well as Australia to visit John, Vicky and granddaughter Jacquelyn.  Chuck also loved the beach and we were blessed to all have the chance to be together as families on St Simons Island in the fall of 2017.

Chuck was a loved and respected friend, mentor, husband and father and will be missed very much.
